5 Easy Tips to Keep you Feeling Fab this Winter!

Freezing cold temperatures? Check! Grey miserable skies? Check! Feeling a bit sorry for yourself?! Check! Well, not for long. It may be gloomy outside but there are some super easy changes you can add into your daily routine to make sure you are feeling super sassy throughout the winter months.

These are some of my favourite things to do when the temperature drops - they involve just a little bit of self care and pampering, and a whole lot of goodness for taking care of yourself outside and in.

Firstly, winter colds are rubbish! We definitely want to do all we can to avoid them, and a lovely treat which makes your room smell heavenly but also helps to ward off any incoming infections (or unblock and stuffy noses if you're already there) is the Eucalpytus Oil from Neals Yard Remedies. I blend this in with other essential oils the moment I detect a cold is on it's way - as the scent is known for it's decongesting properties.

It's best to avoid catching a cold in there first place, so to give myself a fighting chance, I give my immune system a helping hand by slurping on an Actimel every morning. The delicious little pots contain Vitamins B6 and D which are the ones you need to care for your immune system, helping you keep colds at bay. A healthy breakfast is hugely important to keeping us healthy and some of favourite tasty and nutritious breakfasts include Yogurt with fruit and honey, poached eggs on rye bread our sourdough, or even smoked salmon when I'm feeling fancy!

Winter months call for a step up in your pamper routine, and your skin is craving a little extra love and care so I make sure my products have extra nourishing ingredients in them at this time of year. Currently I've been slathering on the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Body Treatment before bed, it completely saturates the skin with hydration so you can bid farewell to dry flaky skin, and also relieve any dry areas like elbows or knees (and randomly for, my shins?!) with a luxurious treat. For my lips I use the matching lip balm, which sorts out any dryness or chapped lips while I snooze.

One not to be overlooked, is sleep itself! When our bodies are well rested, our immune system is much better at fighting off any lurgies, so it's important to get enough of it! I am a long-term fan of the ThisWorks Sleep Plus pillow spray, Charlie mists our pillows every evening to help us drift off into a deep slumber.

Keep yourself warm! It sounds silly and obvious but how often do you leave the house without a hat/scarf/gloves!! By treating yourself to some luxurious layers you won't want to let yourself get chilly - and at the moment I am loving bobble hats! The top one was a gift from Elizabeth Arden and it's by Helen Moore, while the bottom one with the sparkly bits is from a local seller in Surrey.

What are your top tips for feeling fab in Winter?

The Suede Dress

Suede is undoubtedly my texture of the season, so a suede dress is a must-have in any winter wardrobe. I'm currently obsessing over this chic little number from ASOS - the classic colour, the shift silhouette, the fit = everything you could need in a wardrobe staple for Winter. I adore how minimal it looks, so easy to create an effortlessly chic look, but I also imagine I'll get plenty of wear out of this when the temperature drops, i'm thinking over thick woollen tights, under sumptuous fur coats, and layered with a scarf, hat and boots.

Speaking of boots, how fabulous are these grey suede OTKs from Ted & Muffy? They've helped me to transition my Summer outfits to Winter ensembles, I love them over bare legs, tights and trousers too.

In this look I dared to go bare, adding my Chloe Faye dupe to give a swinging sixties vibe to my new favourite OOTD!

Christmas with Clarins

Ok so the title of this post may not strictly be utterly correct, and I may be just teasing you and giving a glimpse into what is actually only going to be hitting the shelves in 2016, but I just couldn't resist showing you all the beautiful newness from Clarins. We all need something to look forward to during these chilly mornings and gloomy nights, and I for one am looking forward to getting back my glow. Yes, a holiday in the sun would be preferable, but thankfully the Clarins Spring Collection has everything we need to bring that radiance back into our complexions.

Starting with the lips, dry chapped lips can be quenched with the new Instant Light Lip Perfectors - I've been a fan of these since they came to my rescue during the coldest months last Winter - as the ingredients soften and protect as well as offering just a hint of beautiful colour. The new purple plum shade doesn't look as intense on the lip as it does in the tube, but offers a light wash of colour and just a hint of shine.

As for the lipsticks, Clarins is my go-to brand when I need a lippy that delivers serious colour, but also moisturisation for my lips. The new shades of Rouge Eclat offer exactly that - protecting lips and also working to minimize fine lines. If that's not enough, they also contain ingredients which actually battle against dehydration and boost collagen! All of this doesn't compromise on the appearance or lasting power of the lipsticks though, and I can confirm that after standing on the rugby pitch side lines for over 3 hours in the biting winds, my lippy remained in tact, and I didn't even find myself reaching for my trusty lip balm once inside!

Claris never fail to hit the nail on the head when it comes to eyeshadow palettes, I've become a collector of their small palettes, and their new rose-bronze compact is my favourite so far! The shades are so incredibly wearable, ranging from a light beige (perfect for the brow bone or inner corners) to deep velvety browns, all of which are superbly blendable - making for an easy smoky or natural eye look. I'm never a fan of the brushes that come with these palettes (Naked Smokey palette is an exception) and I'm not too blown away by the one in the Clarins palette. It's OK for emergencies but these eye shadows deserve a proper blending brush to bring out their beauty.

The four new shades of Ombre Iridescent eye shadows look just like little round candies, dotted around my makeup drawer - and as fun as they are to look at, they are to apply too. With a pearlescent finish, I still find the cream to powder formula rather mind-boggling. How can something so flat in the pot create such a pop of colour and luminous glow?! I'll never know, but boy do I love it!

Available online and in-store on January 10th.

Which is your favourite from the new Clarins Spring Makeup range?

Here's the one that I couldn't wait to share with you! If you're reading this blog (oh hi there!) chances are, like me, you're a bit of a beauty lover. Well, I've got some good news for you! This year the beauty gift sets are better than ever, it seems every brand is throwing together their best products to give you the perfect presents this Christmas. There's a LOT to get through, so I've chosen my absolute favourites to share with you in today's post.

For the drugstore beauty lover - you just can't go wrong with a gift set from L'Oreal. With a best-selling mascara, blush, eyeshadow palette and lippy, this set could make a perfect 'first time makeup' discovery kit, or a top up for any fan of the brand.

For the one that's impossible to buy for - she has it all, she loves her beauty products high end but you  never know what she will love. Sounds familiar? Then she will love you forever if you manage to get your hands on the Swarovski embellished Benefit They're Real mascara. Possibly the greatest mascara in the whole world, and now it has crystals on it. I mean, what more could a girl want?

For the one who loves to try new things - there are so many gift sets from Soap & Glory and this year they've stepped up their makeup game, bringing us crackers, box sets and more! If you're yet to try out their makeup range, then beware - these gift sets will have you hooked!

For the one who deserves a treat - these goodies are luxurious but seriously useful too! I've been wearing my Eylure Lash Edit lashes almost daily now, and these box sets make the perfect stocking filler (hint hint - I'm running out!). The lipstick lover will adore Clinique's new box set, with a lipstick for every day of the week, while Benefit beauty queens will marvel at the carousel style tin of the You're So Party set, as well as the full size treats (including best selling mascaras and bronzers) inside.

For the one who loves to discover new brands - if she hasn't heard of Pixi Beauty already, then she will love you for introducing her to these silky soft eyeliners or the mineral goodness of the powders from the contour kit. A brand that looks good and does good to the skin, the products are all the most beautiful quality and these gift sets make the perfect excuse to try out the brand.

A Dog Lover's Christmas Gift Guide!

If you've been following me on any type of social media over the past few months, you will have noticed a new addition to the family. A tiny sausage-shaped puppy named Dexter has officially become my biggest love - he has endless affection for us, he is playful and mischievous, handsome and adorable. He's only been a part of our lives for three months but already I can't bare to think of a world without my little man. In case you couldn't tell - I'm smitten!

This Christmas, I can guarantee that friends and family will be spoiling me with dog themed gifts, there will be novelty sausage dog phone cases, dachshund embroidered clothing and more, but there are also so many gifts which are perfect for dog lovers which will stand the test of time, and not just for giggles on Christmas day.

Radley, of course, seems the perfect choice for dog lovers. The playful Scottie dog which personifies the brand is emblazoned on the luxury leather accessories, home gifts and handbags, items to be treasured and loved for many years to come. Playful dog lovers like me will fall in love with the Scottie dog shaped clutch bag, a perfect conversation starter and roomy enough for your evening essentials!

Of course a four-legged clutch bag may not be everyone's cup of tea, so I've also chosen a range of home accessories and gifts suitable for any dog lover - Radley's homeware such as tea towels and mugs and essentials such as umbrellas and wellies make for stocking fillers that any dog lover would adore.

Leather accessories are always such a treat to receive, and this Christmas I couldn't help but fall in love with Radley's Blair purse. The delicate grey colour with signature Radley dog plaque opens up to reveal coin compartments and card slots. It's a classic design, elegant and timeless - you won't want to give it away!

At this point my little helper needed attention, and wouldn't leave me in peace until I'd taken his photo, but peel your eyes away from him and onto the beautiful Radley scarf - my final gift suggestion for our dog loving friends. While a Dachshund jumper may just be for christmas, this elegant printed scarf adds fun and a pop of colour to outfits all year round.

Preparing the Home for Christmas

For many of us, this weekend will be the time that we fill our homes with festivity - choosing the tree,  bringing decorations out of their boxes, and searching the stores for new beautiful ornaments to decorate our homes with. This year, Charlie and I decided to invest in some beautiful traditional Christmas ornaments, the types that you bring out year after year, and fortunately for us, John Lewis had a dazzling selection to choose from, including some beauties which had already gone down into the sale.

We opted for a mixture of gold and white Christmas Tree baubles - our tree is a colourful selection of ornaments which each hold treasured memories, and the extra sprinkling of white and gold gave the tree a more luxurious feel.

We also chose a few baubles and ribbons to decorate a garland which we decorate our stair banister with, as well as an unusual jingle-bell wreath ornament (just £3.15!), and matching white and gold party crockery in preparation for our annual Christmas Jumper party!

Finally, we decided to treat ourselves to some new lounge additions to add a cosy and warm feel to the living areas, including a small selection of faux fur cushions and a sumptuous throw perfect for those chilly evenings.

I'd love to know which of these are your favourites and how you are decorating your home for Christmas!

And, if you're here visiting from today's Vlogmas video, to win today's incredible beauty bundle, all you've got to do is share this blog post on either your Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and tag me (@FashionMumblr) in the tweet!

Any excuse for a bit more festivity on the blog, I thought today I'd have a little browse online for some of my favourite Christmas Jumpers! You may have seen my ginormous haul in a recent Vlogmas - so it's safe to say I have a bit of a thing for festive attire. Whether you love the festive, furry, sparkly or slightly naughty, this year it seems that every store has a ginormous range of Christmas jumpers - and this Friday is the perfect day to wear yours at it's the official Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day 2015. Christmas Gift Guide - For Mums!

For me, Christmas gift buying for mum is my favourite. I *hope* that I know what my mum loves, and that I can spoil her with some super pampering treats at Christmas time. Whether it's a beauty gift set, some luxurious treats for the home, or even a treatment for herself, here are my top picks for Mum this Christmas!

Luxury Beauty

Who doesn't love a high end beauty product?! This Christmas you can't go wrong by treating your mum to some luxurious beauty, and brands including YSL have some gorgeous options including the Touche Eclat Blur Perfector - which looks as beautiful on the outside as the effect it has on skin. The balmy texture refines pores and fine lines, and is a stunning company for mums to store in their handbags!

Pampering Pressies!

Because Mum's need some Me-Time too, it's always lovely to treat her to some lovely pampering products, ranging from hand creams such as the Aveda Hand Relief, to one of the Caudalie gift sets. Candles are always a lovely treat too - and my favourite set this festive season is this miniature trio from Diptyque.

Heavenly Scents

Fragrances are another fool proof gift - I wrote an entire gift guide on fragrances here but one that you can't go wrong with is Jo Malone. Their packaging alone is beautiful, and their miniature bottles are the perfect way to let Mum discover a new favourite scent.

Scents for the home too are a lovely gift, such as this lavender Orla Kiely gift set.

Me Time

Finally, and my personal favourite gift for mums is the gift of 'me-time' in the form of an indulgent treatment. Hidden amongst the Valentino Rock Studs and Chanel Haute Couture in Harrods lies the Urban Retreat spa, famed for their Hammam treatments - ranging from exfoliating scrubs to purifying facials - a treatment is a gift that you might just want to share!

What will you be treating mum to this Christmas?

From Where I Stand

How do you usually put together your #ootd? Do you decide you want to wear your new top, and choose the trousers and jacket to match? Well for me, with this outfit, it all started with the shoes.

Let's just take a moment to appreciate the beauty of my new booties. They tick all the boxes, ankle length, chunky heel which is high enough to give me a boost, but I can still run walk in them, and the luxury of the reptile print leather. The warm tones led me to swap my usual winter whites for pinky sunset hues - ranging from a tailored trench coat which will see me through to the Spring months, to this snuggly neopolitan striped faux fur stole which was a steal at under £20.

As well as the boots, Dune was also my go-to for my other leather accessories - you'll be seeing this structured handbag in many of my upcoming #ootds, as I swapped my more Summery backpack for the grey colour block tote. With three inside compartments, it's roomy enough for my daily essentials, and the chic grey colour perfectly compliments my winter wardrobe. As for the pom pom details - I added a keychain to my bag, as well as opting for these fun leather gloves - who said wrapping up warm can't be cute too!

How We Decorated For Christmas

$
0
0

It's our fourth Christmas in our London home this December, and it has to be said that this year, the decorations are by far the most beautiful. We threw the rule books out of the window - opting out of a  'theme' which previous years have restricted us to a certain colour palette. This year, we carefully selected all of the decorations and things that we loved, and the results are beautiful.

Before the decorations went up, we scented the room with the Next Winter fragrance. If you've been watching my Vlogmas you'll have heard me rave about how similar it is to Jo Malone's Pomegranate Noir, and the candle and reed diffuser are delicately scented our living room with a warm and festive fragrance.

Home made decorations always hold the most memories - and this is the newest to addition to our collection. This 'pearanium' (like, terrarium, but a pear...!) is my favourite takeaway from a festive blogger event, created at McQueens florists in East London, it holds golden pine cones, frosted twigs and even a hanging gold cherub. I imagine this being a new Christmas tradition - filling it with a different 'story' every year.

And of course, the most striking decoration of all - the tree! Filled with ornaments that we've collected over the years as well as some new ones, it's definitely our favourite tree yet. Each ornament brings back a memory, and the newer ones are awaiting memories of their owns. A new favourite is this gorgeous copper cage star from Att Pynta - it's chic and stylish while still being a classic Christmas ornament, and looks equally as beautiful on the tree as it does hanging from a spray painted branch.

Owls, Key's, Santa Claus and even Dachshunds are amongst the decorations which I purchased from John Lewis this year. Christmas Tree decorations that have a little personality make great conversation starters at festive gatherings, and allow your tree to tell a story. I'm still amazed that their decorations are already on sale, so there may just be a few more added to the tree in the coming weeks!

I don't like to spend too much on decorations, even though the most beautiful do come out year after year. Instead, I keep my eye on the sales after Christmas and snap up the baubles that I love, without paying full price. This white swirly designed bauble is one of four that I bought from Brissi, after Christmas last year. I pride myself with the bargain that I picked up - paying just 20% of the original price!

Another new addition, and something a little different are these scented tree charms from Rituals. The tassles come in a pack of four, along with a scented oil which you sprinkle all over to give your tree and the whole room a festive scent.

Finally, our tree is scattered with decorations that we've picked up on our travels, ranging from gold glitter squirrels which remind us of our trip to the Black Forest with friends, to these ceramic charms bringing back memories of our trip to Amsterdam.

Candles are scattered throughout the lounge, and the holders are just too pretty to put away after the decorations are taken down. Also from Att Pynta, this copper tealight holder makes a beautiful table decoration, another stylish yet traditional addition to our decorations.

Final touches include stockings on the fireplace, a beautiful garland weaving it's way down our stairs, and a home made wreath hanging proud on our front door. With the mixture of the old and the new, the homemade and the shop bought, it's easy to see why these are our favourite decorations yet!

See more about how we decorated for Christmas in this Vlog!

Afternoon Tea at Kensington Palace

$

I have to admit that recently I've been rather spoilt when it comes to afternoon teas. When a best friend visited from Australia, it was top of her wishlist to enjoy an Afternoon Tea in London, even a few of my meetings recently have been over tea and scones in some of London's most decadent hotels. Absolutely spoilt. What many teas do not offer, however, is the grandeur of an incredible building - a palace, perhaps would quite literally be the icing on the cake to create the most fabulous experience. That is why, today's post is all about Afternoon Tea within The Orangery of Kensington Palace. Once the setting for Queen Anne's raucous parties, with ornate ceilings and 18th century architecture, it makes for by far the most grand of Afternoon Tea locations I am yet to encounter.

Last weekend, while still feeling a little delicate following our Christmas Jumper Party the night before, I was invited to try out their Festive English Afternoon Tea. Mum and I took our seats within the bright and airy room before being given a brief history of the building and it's colourful past. Before long, our table was decked with a three tiered selection of sandwiches, scones and sweet treats, but I did struggle a little to see what made it festive! Nevertheless, each 'course' was exactly what I was hoping for, hearty sandwiches including an Egg mayonnaise roll, smoked salmon and cream cheese mini bagels and turkey and cranberry sandwiches (oh, there's the festive part!).

The scones and cakes were traditional and tasty - many teas choose to make their sweet courses outlandish and incredibly creative but sometimes loose the quality of the food itself, but at The Orangery the selection was simple yet delicious.

While munching our way through the tiers, we enjoyed a festive tea as well as a traditional English Breakfast, on beautiful china emblazoned with the royal crown.

The tea itself is very well priced in my opinion, at £26 per person including tea, it's certainly one of the better value teas in town, especially given the grandeur of the surroundings!

And what does one wear to Afternoon Tea in the grounds of a palace? Well, as much as a fan as I am of getting all dressed up, my 'delicate' state lead me to opt for an outfit that I felt comfortable in for the mild December morning; a wine coloured leather skirt, brown jumper and my favourite new neopolitan striped faux fur scarf.

Black & Gold

For my final post before Christmas, I wanted to share my most festive and fabulous outfit to date. I'm not usually one to wear black, but when I laid eyes on this black & gold jacquard ballerina dress by Ted Baker, I knew it simple had to be mine.

To capture the magic of the look, Jay and I headed to the beautiful Great Fosters hotel in Virginia Water, where the luxurious tudor rooms provided the perfect setting. Starting with my favourite Tom Ford lipstick, of course, the makeup look was a glowing yet classic look, completed with my Hourglass Bronzer. My essentials were enclosed within this fabulous suede sphere bag by Reiss (currently in the sale, might I add!) which perfectly matches my black and gold sandals - a wardrobe staple which I purchased from Reiss two Winters ago.

Being petite, I'm often wary of midi length dresses, but something about this style seemed too perfect for it not to become an essential part of my wardrobe. It's elegant, classical and absolutely feminine.

Winter Warmers

$

0

When it comes to Winter ensembles, there are a few key things I look for. I try to build my wardrobe on three main principles when the weather drops; comfort, style, and beautiful accessories, and this #ootd ticks all the boxes for a perfect Winter ensemble.

Comfort - an absolute must in my fashion rule book. When it comes to snuggling up in the chilly months, a faux fur gilet like this incredibly soft snuggly number from River Island is my current go-to. With the belted waist it's still flattering, but the faux suede outer and faux fur collar make this one of my favourite layering pieces. Underneath is my warmest jumper from Superdry - an essential for layering you can squeeze several layers of thermals underneath, and the best part? It's currently on sale down to just £30!

Style - whilst being warm and cosy, this look is also absolutely on-trend. I may crave that scrumptious cosy feeling but with the right clothing you can look classic and timeless with neutral tones, while still being warm.

Accessories - my biggest investments in my wardrobe are my accessories. They complete a look and can be bought out year after year if you choose wisely. This Mulberry Cecily bag is now in it's third year, and I love it as much as the day that I bought it (and at that price tag, you'd sincerely hope this would be the case!). Other favourites include my Ray-Ban sunglasses which are absolutely timeless, and my favourite boots of the Winter.
